Background
The Neumann Collective
Adelaide is a part of the Neumann Collective - a powerful family established in the United European Assembly.
The Neumann Collective has heavy influence within the system, and control various corporations, most notable of which would be Neumann CYN and Vytal Incorporated. In particular, Adelaide is the daughter of Friedrich Neumann, one of the collective's Beratung 20 (leading council of the collective). Her father's position would put her quite prominently among their ranks - though she could care less for it. She doesn't plan on using her influence for selfish benefit, but would rather use it to pursue her interests and hobbies with others; that being her role and contributions to Vytal.
Childhood
As a child, Adelaide was raised in her family's manor. She was mostly homeschooled by a private tutor, and barely left the mansion grounds. Often times when she would leave, it was either to the market square in her hometown of Stuttgart, or with her father whenever he would go to Myrl.
Because of her lack of socializing, those who knew Adelaide describe her as quiet and reticent. Students at the Gymnasium she attended recount a soft-spoken individual who did well academically, yet spent most of her classes sleeping.
Curiosity
Since young Adelaide never attended Grundschule, she often had time to kill - most of which was spent either in her room, or in the family's garden relaxing. Wanting to change it up a bit one day, her father would take her to the Vytal foundry on Myrl.
It was there where Adelaide would find an interest in the intricate spacecraft her father helped to design. During her stay in the orbiting station, she would (uncharacteristically) blather and ask her father about his work and the machines she saw. At home, she would now be spending a lot of her free time researching and learning about various spacecraft - specifically performance spacecraft similar to what Vytal manufactures.
It turned into her passion. As a kid, she would be reading articles talking about the greatest performance spacecraft endlessly, seemingly having a new favourite every other week. As a teenager, she would turn to more technical diagrams - learning about the engineering and science behind them. Eventually, she convinced her father to let her accompany him on more frequent visits to Foundry Alpha. There, she would spend hours observing and talking to engineers and technicians, absorbing every detail about the design, assembly, and testing processes. Growing into her adult years, she would perform odd jobs at the foundry in tandem with her education at the EIES.*
Impaired
During her early twenties, Adelaide would attend the Banquet d'Or in the western part of the UEA. While the event should have been joyous, it would be disastrous, as the building would unexpectedly collapse - killing and injuring many. One of the injured happened to be Adelaide, who was barely clinging onto life. During the collapse, a large piece of rubble landed on her right arm, crushing it completely and trapping her for almost an hour before being found by EMS. She would fall into a coma in transit to the hospital.
She would wake up a few days after the incident, without her arm and with some cognitive impairment. While her brain would heal quickly, it would take almost two years for Neumann CYN to develop cybernetics that restored her arm functions.
Vytal
In 2819, Friedrich Neumann would retire from his post as Vytal's operations lead. Knowing how passionate his daughter was about the Vytal project, he would hand the position down to her.
Adelaide is a remarkably different leader compared to her father. While he was very adamant on keeping the company in a comfortable state, Adelaide likes to make risky decisions for the sake of innovation. These decisions have proved to be successful so far, with her latest being the development of the JINX propulsion platform - a no-compromises, cheap alternative to the R1 platform.
Between her and Contrei, she tends to lean towards the more experimental side of engineering, while Contrei focuses on developing the company's proven technologies.
Character
Personality
Adelaide usually comes off as an elusive figure. In major public events, she is composed and reserved. She offers measured, thoughtful responses and avoids small talk. While it may seem like she thrives in this type of stuff, Adelaide is somewhat uncomfortable in these environments. As such, her energy drains quickly - so she's usually gone shortly after she's done talking behind the podium or to the media - finding solitude away from people.
Around the right people, however, Adelaide becomes animated and passionate, especially when discussing her interests. Especially with people such as Contrei - who had been present for most of her life - she can converse for hours, laughing about things and pondering life.
Physical Appearance
Adelaide has short, brown hair and usually styles it with a bob cut & bangs. Her face can be described as square, yet soft, with upturned eyes. While her skin can be described as fair, it leans towards the darker side of that spectrum. She stands at 5'5", with an ectomorphic build.
She wields a T1 cybernetic arm - courtesy of the collective's cybernetics company, Neumann CYN.
Adelaide's attire typically leans towards comfort. Fitted turtlenecks, cashmere sweaters, and dark jeans or trousers make up a decent amount of her wardrobe.
