I keep coming back to the way she talks about her injuries like it's a dinner story about a vacation gone sideways. I guess that's what happens when you come from a place where proper, safe racing is essentially locked away from you. You take something that's actually available, unregulated and dangerous as it was, and be happy with it. No idea if that's resilience or just distancing herself from something she hasn't quite sat with yet. Either way, I do not think it's my place to prod further than I already did today; I wrote what was required in the report and I'll leave everything else to people better qualified than me. What I keep noticing, though, is how she sounds so much lighter when talking about ship maintenance than she does when talking about, for example, her lap times. She spoke more positively describing her time as a mechanic than she did about her Terran HS100 title, Obviously she was still excited to talk about her win, but still. That's not nothing.

There's a version of me that would have flagged every unverifiable underground claim as a liability in the interview report and leave it there. But I'm choosing this instead. Doesn't matter what she did or didn't survive down there, she has a complete record, straight answers, and - for what it's worth - she was already smiling before Alano's name even came up, and smiled a bit more when it did. Jules¹ says has an eye for unique talent, recruiting her the way he did. I think he might have been right again. I'm quite curious to see where she lands once she's had a few seasons of racing with full confidence in the ship. Whatever she becomes, I don't think it's going to look like where she started. Good. She's earned that much.
