REDEX Advancements was an independent research and development firm founded in 2756 in Oslo, UEA¹, by aerospace researcher and test pilot Zixuan Yu. He had previously worked under renowned physicist Dr. Leonora Stile at the University of Oxford-Luton, a central institution in the development of MPT technology.² He contributed significantly to the early architecture of MPT systems and led multiple high-risk testing campaigns.
Yu attributed his main reason of leaving Oxford-Luton to a personal conflict between him and Dr. Stile over the deployment of MPT technology. Internally, Dr. Stile advocated for a safety evaluation protocol, as was typical with the industry at the time. Yu argued that the approach was too slow, with some instances having gone through safety testing for almost a decade. He instead proposed a "Live-Environment Testing" model with vehicle manufacturers, which aimed to accelerate development by testing MPT in real-time operational environments. This bypassed the multi-year safety protocols at the expense of stability early-on in development.
The friction between the two was private at first, but quickly culminated into a series of public disputes, leading to the dismissal of Yu from the Oxford-Luton program the following year.
In response, Yu established REDEX Advancements as an independent engineering firm dedicated to MPT development. Following rumours of an MPT racing league by the RSEC³, Yu pivoted the company's focus from general research to high-performance spacecraft manufacturing. The restructuring operated on the premise that competitive racing would serve as the primary testing venue for advanced propulsion systems, which aligned with the philosophy that Yu had argued for.

Stuttgart is located in the German state of Baden-Württemberg.Come late 2757, the rumors of an MPT racing league were confirmed by the RSEC; announcing the Hydrus Spacecraft Racing League for 2759. Given that REDEX had been developing high-performance technologies since 2756, the company was positioned advantageously compared to other interested parties.
In the inaugural series of the HSRL, REDEX registered with a vehicle that had significant optimizations made over its competitors. Of the initial 8 teams, only one of them were able to compete against REDEX for the title: Stile-RD, which derived from the Oxford-Luton research team. With the RSEC setting up an extensive media presence for the league, it became a battle of superiority in the eyes of vehicle manufacturers, who have now seen the tech demonstrated and were willing to sign contracts with the best performing engineers.
REDEX claimed the inaugural championship title after Stile-RD's entry retired early in the middle of the series finale. The victory had been influential in the industry, with investors, and manufacturers sending significant resources and capital to the company. REDEX went through a significant expansion; building new infrastructure, poaching sought-after engineers, and further refining their proprietary MPT systems. The prolonged momentum of their success in the HSRL continued to propel the company upwards, and by the end of 2767, REDEX had become one of the most valuable companies in the Hydrus system.
In an effort to grow the company further, REDEX would announce a new proprietary variant of the MPT system; the Flow Drive. Compared to the competition, the Flow Drive project promised unprecedented levels of efficiency and performance, to the extent of beating the already established V2-SP standard¹ in larger applications. Because of already existing rapport, the announcement was received positively by the industry. Manufacturers started ordering the Flow Drive in advance, even while the technology had not yet begun development.
REDEX began development of the Flow Drive near the end of 2767, and had a functional prototype by mid 2768. Progress was published frequently by the company during this period, with the speed of the project's development being considered "almost unreal" by experts in the propulsion industry. While the reception was generally positive, competitors started questioning the validity of these progress updates. To ease the public, REDEX shared the prototype's performance metrics publicly, showcasing the efficiency and performance on par with what was promised in 2767. Competitors were still skeptical, however public scrutiny largely died down afterwards.
With manufacturers anticipating the Flow Drive, requests for a live demonstration became more frequent. In response, REDEX started performing manned test runs using the Flow Drive system in a prototype vehicle. Semi-private tests began in a biweekly schedule, but were soon subject to frequent delays. The company attributed it to scheduling conflicts with the testing venues. Testing sessions became infrequent, before eventually being halted entirely in the Terran summer of 2768. When asked for comment, Zixuan Yu stated that the "primary testing phase" had simply been completed, and that REDEX was now refining the Flow Drive for the "second stage."

The MPT standard shares many principles with V2-SP, but in a smaller package.A month later, now Terran autumn, PALUS Media¹ had received multiple documents from an anonymous whistleblower, claiming to be a senior engineer at REDEX Advancements. The documents detailed testing observations, meeting transcripts, recordings, and telemetry for the company's Flow Drive; which presented it significantly underperforming in standard testing when compared to traditional MPT systems from rival engineering firms. When asked about the public metrics that REDEX had shown earlier in the year, the whistleblower stated that the information was not inherently incorrect, but that the testing was done in an artificial environment that disguised significant thermal runaway and power draw. The testing conditions were not addressed in the paper. When approached by the media, REDEX confirmed some of the information but did not provide further explanation.
PALUS was later sent more data, this time of REDEX's manned test runs. The whistleblower showcased private telemetry, alongside multiple memos between team members regarding cancelled test runs with manufacturers due to severe instabilities with the Flow Drive. The most critical of these documents happened to be those summarizing the final test run, which logged a service incident that occurred immediately after the test run. The Flow Drive had begun to malfunction, posing a risk to the pilot and ending the test run early. When mechanics scrambled to repair the prototype, the MPT system exploded, engulfing the area and employees in flames shortly after accessing the propulsion system.
Asked for comment, REDEX stated that the incident was a freak accident, attributing it to the pilot possibly pushing the Flow Drive beyond the specified limits. This was later proven false when another set of leaked documents revealed that the safety-abort system had been manually disabled before the test run. Should the system have been enabled, the prototype would not have been flyable.
Stock performance for 🅲RDXA² began to decline steeply, as manufacturers who placed pre-orders during the 2767 marketing hype began filing class-action lawsuits to recover deposits. The company was forced into emergency restructuring, selling many of their liquid assets to rival firms.
By the end of 2768, the European Investigation Board (EIB) had begun looking into the "Flowgate" scandal. Much of the Flow Drive technology - including telemetry, CAD models, and physical prototypes - would be seized by the EIB, while the "Live-environment testing" framework that Yu had established at REDEX was outlawed, being categorized as "reckless negligence" by authorities. Key employees, including Zixuan Yu, were now subject to criminal charges in Terran courts, including corporate fraud, security manipulation, reckless endangerment, and manslaughter. Yu managed to avoid immediate jail time through a plea deal and civil settlement, retaining control over REDEX after selling off non-vital liquid assets.
Many of the Hydrus system's entities started introducing mandatory certification frameworks to prevent something similar from happening in the future.

Contract terms between the two also required REDEX to surrender majority equity and raw patent data in exchange for funding their racing program as a live testing platform for military-adjacent propulsion research. This meant that REDEX no longer functioned as a traditional engineering firm, relying solely on their success and field testing through the HSRL.
For future HSRL series, the RSEC introduced strict engine homologation rules to prevent untested MPT drives from being used in the league. This includes the Flow Drive, which had already been outlawed throughout the Hydrus system. REDEX-Profundo ended up using an MPT system from their 2767 series, refurbishing it to meet the new standards set for 2769. It kept up in power, however the efficiency rating of the system proved to be inferior to other teams, which have now caught up and surpassed the weakened engineering firm.
When racing resumed for the 2769, REDEX's performance began to fall to the midfield. Even with the Profundo contract, the team operated at a fraction of the budget they had before, with races often ending outside of the points or with an early retirement. The team's pilots, who were prestigious with the team before the Flowgate scandal, began triggering exit clauses; specifically in regards to safety concerns and performance expectations. This resulted in REDEX having to sign new pilots in 2770 that were either extremely inexperienced, or pay-pilots with sub-par performance.
In 2775, Profundo restructured the loan agreement, adding an explicit performance mandate for the team. The contract stated that if REDEX fails to secure a top-three constructors finish by the end of the 2798 series, the controlling interest and all physical hardware will default entirely to the creditors. An alternative solution was also presented, where-in REDEX would completely sell off its patents and proprietary tech to Profundo, however Yu did not agree to those terms, opting for the performance mandate instead.
The racing team continued to underperform, with their highest series placement being 5th in the 2776 series. In a final attempt to boost REDEX's valuation, Zixuan Yu announced the "Flow-II", a refined, market-ready version of the original Flow Drive. The marketing claimed that the company had solved the efficiency and thermal runaway issues of the prototype, presenting the "Flow-II" as a definitive eco-alternative to traditional MPT systems. Manufacturers remained skeptical. With zero market interest, alongside an approaching performance deadline, Yu cancelled the "Flow-II" program in 2778.
REDEX's racing team had actually achieved a decent track record for the 2778 series, with the team entering the series finale in 3rd place. However, once the race began, both REDEX vehicles malfunctioned before the end of lap 1, resulting in a DNF result for the team. This brought their final standing to 4th in the 2778 HSRL series.
As per the contract with Profundo in 2775, REDEX is now practically insolvent. The team still enters the HSRL for the 2779 series, but with almost no money to sustain the team. With payroll being halted, engineers and critical staff begin to resign from REDEX. Company assets are also at risk of being seized by creditors.
During the week of the 2779 Remora Grand Prix at Myaraje, Planet Myrl, an emergency order was granted to REDEX's primary creditor after the company defaults on another significant debt-restructuring milestone. In the middle of the qualifying session at the Mirage venue, broadcasting media documented a scene at the REDEX hangar involving pit crew and asset repossession. Not long after, both REDEX craft were called into the pits in the middle of Q1, before the hangar was shut. REDEX staff were seen being escorted out of the venue via routes through Mirage's General Admission.
The team was not seen at the race the following afternoon. REDEX Advancements had entered administration. An asset sale was set up soon after all company property had been seized. Much of the IP went to various buyers in the industry, however there were two major entities that ended up claiming many of REDEX's assets.
Stile-RD was the first, and were largely interested in much of the proprietary technology that REDEX had developed before and during the Flow Drive era.
The Neumann Collective was the other entity, also interested in some of the proprietary technology, but moreso interested in what remained of the racing division. The HSRL slot left by REDEX, plus the pre-existing regulation technology, would be extremely useful for their performance/engineering sub-brand, Vytal Inc; who were looking into entering the league as a works team. Anything that was salvaged from the REDEX racing team became Arctara A.G. in 2784.¹

Found at Terminal 4 of the Eventide Interplanetary Spaceport, Zixuan Yu was arrested by local Acwaiian authorities after being exposed for bankruptcy fraud. Yu had attempted to bypass creditors by offloading prototype parts, hiding proprietary data and transferring funds to shell entities. He was later extradited to the UEA, Planet Terra.
During the investigation period, it was revealed that Yu had piled up significant criminal charges after securing his plea deal in 2769. After the initial financial fallout of the Flowgate scandal, the company began falsifying fiscal reports in the 2770s in a bid to hide debt from shareholders.
In a further attempt to recoup investor capital, the "Flow-II" had actively been worked on in the hopes of gaining market confidence. Before being cancelled in 2778, the project even went as far as re-adopting the "Live-environment testing" framework that had been outlawed, including manned testing. Prosecutors later argued gross negligence regarding the matter.
With the plea deal revoked, Zixuan Yu was found guilty of investor fraud, multiple probation violations, reckless endangerment, and asset concealment.
